Observational Drawing with Jen Lake
April 6th Sunday 2:00- 5:00
more about this class
Come rediscover the pure enjoyment of the creative drawing process through non-traditional still life setups featuring Bay Area flora collected by Jenifer. We’ll bring to life both leafy, flowery botanicals and other intriguing natural objects Jenifer has gathered (think: feathers, bones, skulls, shells, and more) by rendering them in a variety of mediums. Together, we’ll explore familiar and fascinating natural pieces—making time and space for you to re-learn the discipline and sheer joy of actively creating. Leave behind the critic and the “I can’t do this” voice, and allow yourself to find joy in simply moving a pencil across paper. After practicing a few drawings and taking a short break, we’ll add a light, loose touch of watercolor to some of your pieces. You’ll pick up a few technical skills and tips, but the real magic comes from reconnecting with the carefree joy of childhood creation. The techniques you learn will stay with you, and you can continue to refine your skills. Come imbue your drawings with light, love, and care, leaving old inhibitions behind! Jenifer will guide you through the same tips and tricks she uses with her students every day. A materials fee of 15.00 will paid directly to the instructor the day of class.
